A Quick Background
I studied physics and developed new ways to image the human body.
I founded a startup to tell radiologists when and where to look again using eye-tracking and AI.
I built AI infrastructure and novel immersive medical imaging workflows used in VR.
I’m transferring my medtech experience to help experts adopt AI in other fields.
My Professional Philosophy
AI will not turn non-experts into experts any more than Wikipedia turns high school students into scholars.
AI can help with the mundane - but can only do so safely in a strictly defined context.
AI can help experts - but only if takes into account existing workflows and relevant cognitive and psychological factors.
AI governance and enablement frameworks mostly overlook these factors, despite many being known to arise at the intersection of technology and human endeavor.
AI will demand a new paradigm for human interaction - similar to the replacement of punch cards by keyboards, the command line by the GUI and the static layout of early mobile phones by touchscreens.
My Other Interests
WHen I am not working, I enjoy the following:
- Mountain biking and bikepacking.
- Tinkering with Arduinos and my Homelab.
- Reading, writing, listening to music, playing old video games.
- Doing any of the above with my growing family.
